Parc Guell, Barcelona, Spain

In the spring of 2017, I had the pleasure of studying  in Barcelona, Spain for the entire semester. I traveled to France, Denmark, Italy, The Netherlands, Ireland, The Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary and other cities in Spain. While I did not watch a lot of TV when traveling, I did have to adapt  to the different TV customs and limitations in Barcelona. I was unable to use a VPN to trick my computer into thinking I was in the US and therefore was forced to watch different Netflix shows that were only available in Spain. At first this was an adjustment, but eventually I found shows that I could relate to, like Orphan Black and began to expose myself to a larger variety of content and programs. Becoming mindful and knowledgable about another country's content/programming gave me a unique perspective on shows from the US. With this new perspective I was able to look at programs I had previously watched and analyze them from a new point of view and develop stronger opinions and connections to the shows.

Photography

Of course, the opportunity to travel meant the opportunity to pursue my love for photography. While I am by no means a professional photographer, it is something that I greatly enjoy and am grateful for every chance to practice my skills. If you are interested in my photo's from Europe, feel free to check some of them out here. Photographing pictures abroad and pursing this interest allowed me to document my life with a camera and further enhance my interest in the entertainment industry.

Walk The Moon performing Anna Sun at Movin' On 2016, shot by Sarina Callan

A tremendous part of the entertainment world is the music industry. Luckily, music has always been a world I escape to in times of need. During my junior year at Penn State, I was selected to be a member on the core committee of Movin' On, Penn State's Annual Music Festival.  I was a project development coordinator and was responsible for consumer retention. I planned  fun games and activities for the attendees and supervised during the event to make sure everything ran smoothly at these stations. What was most interesting about Movin' On was that we had the chance to be a part of the stage crew. Believe it or not, but I helped set up the signature lights for Walk the Moon's performance, helped build and tear down the stage, and be a part of one of the top 5  largest student run student festivals in the nation. I even had the chance to chat with Sammy Adams and face-swap with him using a snapchat filter. Being a part of this organization ignited the fire within me to continue down a path in the entertainment industry.
